NEURO LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING
Neuro Linguistic Programming - NLP - is one of the most powerful personal development tools available today. But where did it come from, and why does it work?
NLP was developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder at the University of Santa Cruz, drawing on the work of pioneering therapists including Virginia Satir, Fritz Perls, and Dr Milton Erickson. Their goal was to model what made exceptional therapists exceptional - and to make those methods accessible to everyone. The roots of NLP stretch back further still, through the human potential movement of 1960s California and the cybernetics research of Gregory Bateson, whose central idea was that humans do not experience reality directly - we experience our own internal construction of it. Change that construction, and you change the experience.
ACHIEVE LASTING PERSONAL CHANGE
Bandler and Grinder published The Structure of Magic in 1975 and 1976, laying the foundations for what NLP would become. Since then, it has been used worldwide to help people overcome phobias, rewire limiting beliefs, improve communication, and achieve lasting personal change.
While NLP has attracted the label of pseudoscience in some quarters, the real-world results speak for themselves. Richard Bandler's work with patients that conventional medicine had been unable to help is testament to the depth and effectiveness of the approach.
